2026-27 NHL schedule edges for fantasy.

The 84-game calendar is out and it is not shared evenly. Some clubs live on the league's quiet Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, where a streaming slot is cheap. Others live on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, in traffic.

The five best off-night clubs

Off-night share decides how often a bench forward can get into your lineup. These five clubs draw the most.

Every column sorts. Off-nights and back-to-backs matter most in weekly-lineup leagues. Homestand and road-trip length matter if you chase travel splits. Week one matters on draft night. The last two columns are the labelled window.

What this means for your draft

Colorado draws 40 off-nights out of 84, the most in the league, just under 48 percent of its season. New York takes 39; San Jose, Utah and Washington 38 apiece. Nashville plays only 20, with Tampa Bay at 23 and New Jersey and St. Louis at 25. A twenty-game swing, landing entirely on the part of your roster you were going to churn.

Your stars start every night regardless. Off-nights are not a tiebreaker at the top of the board. They are a tiebreaker at the bottom. When two streamers project the same, the one playing Monday and Wednesday gets into your lineup twice as often. Choosing between a Colorado fourth option and a Nashville one for the last bench spot, the schedule has already answered it.

Back-to-backs cut the other way, and mostly at goalie. Pittsburgh carries 15; Boston, Buffalo, Florida and Ottawa 14 each. That is a lot of nights a starter hands off to a backup. Calgary and Vegas carry eight, Winnipeg nine, the cleanest runway for a workhorse. Colorado sits fourth-fewest at ten while leading the league in off-nights, the rare case where both columns agree.

Week one is thin because the season opens on a Tuesday. Ottawa plays a single game; New York and Vancouver play four. If your league counts week one, that is a three-start swing before you spend a late pick. The final week is short for the same reason, at the other end.

The matrix above runs all 28 weeks, not just the opening month. Read it in two passes. First scan a club's row for the four-game weeks, because those are the weeks a streamer earns a roster spot. Then scan a week's column for the two-game holes, because those are the weeks you plan around. The filter narrows the grid to one month at a time when a full row is too much.

Weeks 22 to 26 carry a label, not a rule. Most weekly-lineup leagues run a bracket somewhere in that span, and the panel ranks every club by games and by off-night games inside it. Your league sets its own playoff weeks. Look them up, then read the columns that match, because a club with a four-game final week is worth more than one that plays twice.

February is the trap. The mid-season break wipes out February 4 through 7, and clubs stack byes on top. The league averages under ten games for the month against nearly fourteen in October. If your playoffs or deadline sit near the break, plan for a month where nobody accumulates anything. A February slump is mostly a decline in games.

Read the longest-road-trip column alongside maximum games in seven days. A club with a seven-game trip and a five-in-seven stretch gives you a real two-week window where its depth forwards are worth rostering, and a real one where they are not. The schedule is the only projection here that is already known.

February dipEvery club's byMonth line falls in February 2027. No games from February 4 through 7, with club byes layered on top. A scheduling artefact, not a form signal.
