How to read it

Two systems, two different leagues

A fantasy points leaderboard is not a scoring leaderboard. NHL points are goals and assists. Fantasy points are whatever your league pays for, and the two big platforms have never agreed. ESPN pays 0.1 a shot, 0.1 a hit, 0.5 a blocked shot, and a half-point bonus on any power-play goal or assist. Yahoo pays six a goal, four an assist, a full point a block, nine tenths a shot, and nothing for a hit. That is not rounding. It reorders the top twenty.

It shows up immediately above. A high-volume physical shooter climbs on ESPN and stalls on Yahoo. A pure playmaker on a first power-play unit does the reverse, because Yahoo pays four an assist where ESPN pays one. A name at the top of both columns is a real signal.

Season totals reward availability. The per-game columns are the honest comparison across years and injuries. A player who missed twenty games can beat the man above him on rate. That is why both columns print side by side rather than blending into one. This desk publishes no composite scores.

Two of these seasons were not full seasons. The 2019-20 regular season stopped in March at 68 to 71 games per club. 2020-21 was scheduled at 56. Their totals sit below neighbouring years for reasons that have nothing to do with the players. Select either and the page says so above the table.

Every figure is recomputed from the NHL's published season stats, then scored under current published defaults. It is not what ESPN or Yahoo awarded at the time: settings change and every league is configurable. Check your own settings screen before trusting anyone's defaults, including these.
