# NHL Prospect Tracker

Source: <https://hockeyinsights.ca/prospect-tracker/>

This dated snapshot pairs the league opening-date calendar with retained 2026-27 season lines. Player lines are refreshed nightly from the NHL player landing endpoint, and each refreshed player carries an actual acquisition timestamp. The page keeps that acquisition clock separate from organization capture, the prospect model cache, export admission and page assembly.

## What is on the page

- **The opening.** How many prospects have played this season and in how many leagues, the snapshot's leading skater with the next four, and your club's leader when you follow one. One bar splits the playing prospects by league, each counted once in his main league; choosing a league filters the board. Leagues still to open are listed with their dates. The source clocks sit behind a disclosure.
- **The watchlist.** Five prospects to follow, each with a dated destination and team opener.
- **The season board.** The 40 leading skaters with retained season lines, the top three on a podium and the rest ranked with games, goals, assists, points and points per game. It sorts by points, points per game or goals, and filters by position, league and NHL club. Eight goaltenders follow. If the snapshot has no current-season lines, the board uses the prior season under a dated label.
- **Every prospect.** A searchable table of every recorded appearance, by club and league.
- **First lines and goals.** Names whose first line of the season appeared in the most recent build, shown only when a build has some.
- **Your club.** The club the site remembers for you, with its prospect and playing counts on top. Prospects with a 2026-27 line come first. The rest keep their last season on record and a plain missing-line label.
- **Where they play.** Each league under way shows its listed date, the share of tracked prospects with a line and its names among the board's leaders. Leagues opening soon follow. Leagues with tracked prospects but no captured line sit behind a disclosure.

## The activity rule

A league is marked activity captured only when two things were true at the snapshot clock: its listed opening date had passed, and at least one eligible prospect had a retained 2026-27 row with games played above zero. A published date is a plan, so a date alone does not establish activity. This is a snapshot rule, not a real-time feed.

## Where the numbers come from

Each confirmed current-organization prospect with an unambiguous NHL identity can be refreshed with one request to the NHL player landing endpoint, `api-web.nhle.com/v1/player/{id}/landing`. The `seasonTotals` rows that come back are the whole source. Regular season and playoffs are kept apart, NHL and non-NHL rows are both kept, and nothing is blended into a rating.

The online refresh runs three requests at a time with backoff and a 20-hour cache policy. Cache-only builds retain previous evidence and do not claim a fresh provider observation. Build time describes packaging; it does not establish a new provider observation. The current export reports its actual identity, missing-cache and excluded-row counts. Older signed records with unconfirmed organization rights and identity-quarantined records remain in Team Pipeline’s labeled audit shelves and do not become current club members here.

## What this page will not do

It will not project a line. It will not rate a prospect. It will not hide a name that has not played, and it will not invent a number for one. The board orders the leading lines by one column at a time (points, points per game or goals) and blends nothing into a score.

## The Class of 2026

The page's second view, at /prospect-tracker/?class=2026, follows all 223 picks of the 2026 NHL Draft through the season: where each plays, his 2026-27 line once he has one, who has signed and who has reached the NHL. It was a separate page at /tracker/ until October 5, 2026.

Each club's own prospects, with this season's lines first, are on Team Pipeline at /team-pipeline/{club}/.
